Is there a positive belief system inheirant in atheism? (I don't think that is necessarily the case but many athiests seem to hold to a belief in material positivism or some other form of rationalism. Others refer to "common sense" which is much less coherent but could be counted as a belief system.) What does constitute a religion? Of course there are a number of religions that don't fall into this either. An elaborate belief system with associated behavioral/ethical norms could count. That's especially true if it has a devotional aspect, though there are recognized religions that are not devotional in nature. I guess I'd agree that atheism is not a de facto religion, but I think that the demarcation between religious faith and the belief systems of (at least some) atheists is a little murky. LOL! Presuming the non-existence of God because there is no evidence for God isn’t a positive statement of belief. Certainly, there is no supernatural element to atheistic thought. Indeed, I’m an atheist and I don’t believe “the supernatural” exists, or even is coherent.
