Ohio Board of Education tosses “Critical Analysis”
>The Ohio Board of Education voted 11-4 to delete material encouraging students to seek evidence for and against certain elements of evolutionary science. [Link]
Nice!!! 11-4 - I wonder if Cochran was one of the 4….
Thanks to The Panda’s Thumb for the tip (I’ve been waiting all day).
~ Edited to add that the no’s were: Cochran, Owens-Fink, Grady, and Westendorf.
Thanks Russel, for posting the info in the comments! It’s too bad that Cochran’s term isn’t up until December 31, 2008.

Of course, you really don’t. But just for the record, the No’s were: Cochran, Owens-Fink, Grady, and Westendorf

Westondorf? That’s a bit surprising. Hmm. I take it Virgil Brown was there - because I know he said he would be a yes but wasn’t there last time.

Virgil was there and voted with the good guys, as did Steve Millet who had voted the other way before, and Carl Wick, who had also voted the other way before.
I’ve posted a little more detail on Panda’s Thumb, and I will post the full text of the actual motion that was passed as amended as soon as I’ve transcribed it from the digital recording of the meeting I made. (Be aware that I’m a hunt and peck typist, so the transcription may take a while!)
Many thanks for your interest and support, folks. We all appreciate it.

Great job RBH! I’m looking forward to reading the transcript. Thanks!

This is good news, no doubt. Now I don’t have to worry about forcing anyone to listen to my own “theory” about the beginning of time….LOL. Whew! That was close.

Um, I’m a hunt and peck typpist — I’m not going to transcribe the whole two hours! That’d be a three-month operation! LOL!!
I have posted the text of the motion (as amended) that was passed on Panda’s Thumb, though. If I can get appropriate sound file editing software I can post the digital recording of the debate itself.

LOL!! No, the motion is more than enough.
If you get the audio up, I’ll be making popcorn and sitting down with a Guinness for it.
Thanks for keeping us informed!!
